Errors & Omissions
A Producer’s Errors and Omissions policy covers legal liability and defense costs for the production company against lawsuits alleging unauthorized use of title, format, ideas, characters or plots, plagiarism, unfair competition or piracy. Errors and Omissions also protects for alleged libel, slander, defamation of character or invasion of privacy.
Special event and venue coverage include:
You need to obtain insurance for a special event, (awards presentations, charity benefits, festivals, job fairs, corporate events, live entertainment, rallies, sporting events, weddings, movie screenings, etc.)
You need to cover the owner/operator of theaters, auditoriums, halls, school event facilities, city and municipality owned facilities, etc.
You need to cover the renters of facilities used for events such as awards presentations, charity benefits, festivals, job fairs, corporate events, live entertainment, rallies, sporting events, weddings, movie screenings, etc.
You need to cover exhibitors, concessionaires and or vendors at events.
You need to provide annual coverage for commercial caterers that support the entertainment industry.
The entertainment world requires a considerable amount of rented equipment, and it often must travel to film shoots, or accompany touring musicians, etc.
We have extensive expertise in underwriting complex entertainment equipment exposures and represents exclusive markets for this type of insurance need.
If you are insuring a production with a Production Insurance Package policy, Miscellaneous Rented Equipment is probably an available coverage in that policy.
If you insure a production company via an annual Production Package policy, that policy may already have a minimal amount of Miscellaneous Rented Equipment coverage. You may be able to endorse the policy to a higher limit for increased rented equipment exposures.
If you’re insuring an individual who needs a simple equipment floater policy in order to rent equipment from a rental house or rental yard, try one of the many on-line insurance services available for that purpose.
Workers Compensation for the Entertainment Industry is a particular challenge. State law usually mandates any form of production obtain worker’s compensation insurance for anyone paid to work on the production. If a production shoots in multiple states, things can get complicated quickly. New Empire has Worker’s Compensation markets available in all 50 states and we can get complex workers compensation policies quoted and bound quickly and efficiently.
Many times a production will use a payroll service company to pay production staff. Usually the payroll service company will handle the workers compensation insurance. If a production pays their production staff via a payroll service company, and the payroll company provides workers compensation coverage, the production company STILL may want to consider a backup worker’s compensation policy. This would cover them in situations not covered by the payroll service company, an unpaid extra for example.
